Edmund Kress Lander WY Obituary, Death: It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Edmund Campion Wallace Kress, known to many as Edmund Kress, who left us far too soon on March 16, 2025. Edmund, a young man of profound faith, kindness, and dedication, was only 20 years old at the time of his death, but in his short life, he made a lasting impact on the lives of all who knew him.
Though the grief we feel in his passing is deep, we take solace in the knowledge that his life was filled with love, purpose, and the strong presence of his faith. Edmund was born on July 18, 2004, in Lander, Wyoming, and he quickly became a beloved son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was raised in a family that nurtured him in both love and faith. From an early age, it was clear that Edmund possessed a strong sense of compassion and a heart that sought to help others. His passion for others and his willingness to serve were reflected in the way he spent his time.
He embraced every opportunity to make the world a better place, and his legacy of kindness and dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. One of Edmund’s most cherished contributions was his time spent at High Point Camp, where he was not only a camper, but also a counselor-in-training (CIT) and a camp leader. His time at camp was pivotal to his growth as a young adult and allowed him to live out his faith through service and fellowship.
He was deeply loved by campers and staff alike for his enthusiasm, caring nature, and strong work ethic. Edmund’s leadership was evident in every task he undertook—whether he was assisting with activities or offering words of encouragement to others, he did so with unwavering dedication. His involvement at High Point Camp was more than just volunteering; it was an opportunity for him to live out his values and help spread the love and teachings of the Gospel.
The love Edmund had for the Lord and his commitment to living a life of service were central to who he was. His time at camp encouraged those around him to be better, to do more for others, and to embrace the love of Christ in their lives. As one friend shared, “Edmund’s contribution at camp encouraged us whenever he volunteered with the activities and helped with the campers as we shared the work of the Gospel.” He was known for his generosity of spirit and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Edmund had a way of making those around him feel special, valued, and loved, and his presence was a source of joy and inspiration to everyone who crossed his path.
In moments of difficulty, Edmund’s faith was his guide. He was a firm believer in the power of prayer, and he consistently demonstrated the strength and peace that comes from trusting in God’s plan. He lived out the words of Romans 8:38-39, which became a source of comfort for his family and friends during this time of loss: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.”
Edmund’s life was a testament to the unshakeable foundation of faith, and his legacy will continue to inspire others to live boldly in their own faith. Edmund’s love for his family and friends was immeasurable. He was a devoted son, and his bond with his family was one of mutual respect, love, and deep affection. He was cherished by his parents and siblings, who will forever hold onto the beautiful memories of their time with him. His kindness and warmth touched everyone he met, and his absence leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully describe.
To his friends, Edmund was a constant source of encouragement and joy. He had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel like they mattered, and his infectious laugh and warm heart made him a beloved companion. His friends will always remember him as someone who lived with purpose, someone who gave his best in all that he did, and someone whose presence made life a little brighter. Edmund’s light shone in the lives of those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the countless hearts he touched.
Edmund’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his family and friends are comforted by the fact that he lived his life with a deep sense of purpose and meaning. His contributions to the camp, his unwavering faith, and his love for others will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him. As we grieve his loss, we are reminded of the love and joy that Edmund brought into our lives, and we hold onto the beautiful memories of his time with us.
The Kress family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, support, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time. They are grateful for the love and compassion of all who have come to grieve with them and to celebrate Edmund’s life. The family has requested that a private time of reflection and family gathering take place until 3:00 pm on Wednesday, after which the public is invited to visit and share memories of Edmund during the viewing hours at Mary-Elizabeth’s house (70 Old Highway, Hillsdale, NY) from 3:00 pm Wednesday until 2:00 am Thursday.
A funeral service to honor Edmund’s life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 12:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church (Holy Trinity Parish), located at 429 E. Allen St., Hudson, NY. Following the service, a procession will take place to Austerlitz Cemetery (11507 NY-22, Austerlitz, NY), where Edmund will be laid to rest. A celebration of Edmund’s life will follow at the Culley Home (959 Dugway Road, Chatham, NY), and friends and family are invited to bring a dish to share as they gather together to remember and celebrate his life.
As we come together to honor Edmund’s memory, we are reminded of the impact he had on this world—a young man whose faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Though Edmund’s time with us was short, his legacy will endure, and we will carry his spirit in our hearts always. Rest in peace, Edmund. You will never be forgotten, and your light will continue to guide us. Your legacy of faith, love, and service will forever inspire those who were blessed to know you.
